"One Foot in Front of the Other" Before we walk, we must crawl, Before we speak, we must mumble, So when we're older there'll be brawls, And as we grow we will definately stumble. When we are born we are so unaware, We don't know about life's sins and dangers, We have no clue about life's toils and snares, But that's why long before us a baby was born in a manger. This newly born child would be the key, He would take the sin away, He'd give man the power to part the sea, So that we could live with him one day. As this baby grew to be a man in his time, People didn't believe he was true, They thought his actions were a crime, They didn't believe Messiah was a Jew. No one could seem to explain, All he had to give, So that we might be able to gain, The perfect life to live. People laughed and judged, They showed no compassion at all, They didn't know him yet held a grude, This would be what caused this man to fall. This man was sent to jail, They looked at him as nothing but dross, He had no luck for bail, The boy was nailed to a cross. Never would he have been free from his mortal prison, His life would have been full of strife, But, three days after burial this man was risen, So, for everyone he gave his life. If we live as though this never took place, We have no chance in life, We would lose life's long race, So, that we can live a life without worries or strife. So, when times aren't the best, Remember you will stumble, You are taking God's test, Before you speak you must mumble. Walk one foot in front of the other, Each step in life one at a time, Try not to think "oh brother," And remember God who was accused of crime. ~Lindsey Bates~ *3-20-00* |
